Biei and Furano are famous for their beautiful lavenders, but there are other beautiful spots. Here are 3 recommended spots unique to summer!
Platinum blue pond

Shirokane Blue Pond, a 20-minute drive from JR Biei Station, is a famous pond that shines in the mysterious cobalt blue.
In summer, when there are many sunny days, many people gather, especially because you can take pictures of the deep blue lake.
In addition, near the blue pond, there is a shop called "Blue Pond" that sells only blue goods such as blue puddings and mascots. The most popular among them is the blue pond soft with ramune flavor!
Why don't you buy blue pond software and take a commemorative photo with the blue pond?
Shirabeard Falls

Next is the white beard waterfall. It takes 4 minutes by car from Shirokane Blue Pond. With a drop of about 30m, you can enjoy the waterfall flowing down the Biei River shining in cobalt blue. The best recommendation is to see the white beard waterfall from a nearby bridge called the Blue River!

It is a blue pond and a white beard waterfall, but in fact, a tour bus departs from JR Biei Station from June to early October. If you don't usually get in a car, be sure to visit during the summer!

Farm Tomita has free entrance fees and parking lots, making it a popular spot in the local area. It is especially crowded on holidays, so if you want to enjoy it slowly, it is recommended to visit in the morning.
Also, next to Farm Tomita, there is a specialty store for melon sweets called Tomita Melon House.

Shiretoko, Eastern Hokkaido Enjoy the Great World Natural Heritage and Japanese Culture

If you are visiting Hokkaido, you will definitely want to enjoy nature! The Shiretoko area is recommended for those who say.
Among Eastern Hokkaido, Shiretoko is the only area in Hokkaido that has been selected as a World Natural Heritage Site. However, during the winter, there are many places where entry is prohibited due to snow, so summer is the best place to appreciate old growth forest and wildlife!
In particular, the places and events introduced this time are not enjoyable in winter, so we recommend that you visit during the summer vacation!
Shiretoko Goko Lakes

Shiretoko Goko Lakes is the closest and safest spot to enjoy the great nature of Shiretoko. Walking around Shiretoko Goko Lakes is only available from April to November, so if you visit it in the summer, you should definitely go there.
In summer, you can enjoy alpine plants, wild birds, Hokkaido Sika Deer, and sometimes the footprints of brown bears against the backdrop of the lush Shiretoko mountain range.
There are two types of walking routes on Shiretoko Goko Lakes: an elevated wooden path that can be easily enjoyed by children in 40 minutes, and a ground promenade that can be observed over an hour and a half.

Since the summer season is a brown bear breeding season, a professional guide tour is required when walking on the ground promenade in July.
The cost is about 5,000 yen, but it will carefully explain how to listen to the sounds of wild birds and explain the ecosystem of the flora and fauna of Shiretoko.

Kamuiwakka Falls

Next, in summer, I definitely want to go to Kamuiwakka Falls, a limited time spot from June to October. Kamuiwakka Falls is not ordinary water, but a strong acidic hot spring flowing, so you can actually take a bath!
After walking along the rocky area for about 30 minutes from the estuary, you will arrive at a waterfall pot called "Ichi no Taki".

However, even in hot springs, the water temperature is only about 30 degrees, so it feels cold in autumn and spring. In other words, summer is the best time for those who want to take a bath! When walking along the waterfall, please bring socks and shoes that do not slip to prevent injury.
During the Bon Festival holidays in August, cars will be closed and accessible only in shuttle bus. Please be sure to check the latest information on the official website before departure.
